Jacob Benedict’s First Month on Earth

Yesterday, we had our regular checkup with Jacob’s pediatrician. We arrived a little early being ahead some 15 mins the original time. It turned out that the doctor will be arriving an hour later, so we really pulled our patience that time. Usual procedure of getting the child’s weight, length, temperature etc. Then the doctor arrived checking his heartbeat even his poopoo. Everything is normal.
Jacob Benedict was born June 1, 2008 weighing 3.1kg with 49cm height. Our first checkup was last June 11, with him weighing 3.2 kg with the same height. A month later, he is now 4.3kg with 55cm height. That’s more than a kilogram in less than a months time. During our first checkup, we were a little worried why he didn’t gain some weight. To our surprise, the doctor said that infants usually even loose weight after birth, so that means Jacob even surpasses that regularity. Now that he gained more than a kilo, we’re more than happy to know that we are doing the right thing especially my wife who is trying her best to produce breast milk.
At this stage, we only hope that he continues to grow faster and healthier. Can’t wait to play with him, cuddle with him and stroll with him. Sure is a different feeling when you’re a father.
